Study On Localization Of Social Work With Elders

With the improvement of the economic the health conditions, people’s life expectancy is longer and longer, so China has entered the aging society. Because of the high-speed increase of the elders, the elderly work is facing enormous challenges.Due to the social transformation and the reduction of children, the traditional elderly work can not afford the growing demand of the elders. Therefore, the development of professional elderly social work is need urgently. However, there are many differences in social system, economic, cultural traditions between China and Western countries, leading to professional elderly social work originated in the West can not be successfully developed in China, so in order to adapt to the reality of China, it is necessary for the localization of West elderly social work in China.The localization of social work with elders in China namely the process of combining Western elderly social work with the political, economic, cultural of China. We should first based on China’s national conditions, to seek effective experience suited to China’s aging society,and then learn from and innovation these experiences, finally create the elderly social work with Chinese characteristics.This article adopts literature research and comparative research method, first proposed the source of the localization of elderly social work in China, explained the significance of this problem, analysis of the necessity and possibility, combined with the background and present situation of China, found out the difficulties faced by during the practice, and finally seeking ways to solve the predicament.The difficulties faced by and the path of the localization of elderly social work in China are the focuses of this article. In this paper, through the comparison of Chinese and Western in the elderly social work values, theories, methods and system’s differences, summed up the plight of the causes, the last from the four aspects talk the measures to resolve the plight, i.e. the reconstruction of China’s elderly social wok value systems and theoretical systems, the innovation of the elderly social work methods, the improvement of the elderly social work systems.
