In Chinese society today, the importance of education is paidmore and more attention. It is very important, not only to the childsfuture career choices, as well as the entire life, and even about thefuture of the country, the revitalization of the nation.Education isimplicated by the family, school and society, among them, family has abasic role. In the factors of family education, family parenting style is animportant and relatively controllable variate. In the group of migrantworkers, because of the impact of the factors including educationallevel, economic conditions, social background and living environment,their family parenting style exists some of its own characteristics.Theresearch of the relationship of family parenting style and academicachievement of children of migrant workers has an importantsignificance to improve the academic achievement of children ofmigrant workers.In this paper, the "Parenting Style Scale "(EMBU) is used toconduct a survey including six dimensions of emotional warmth andunderstanding, punishment and harsh, excessive interference, thepreference, refusal and denial, over-protection from his father, as wellas five dimensions of emotional warmth and understanding, too muchinterference and over-protection, refusal and denial, severepunishment, the preference from his mother to Shanghai S junior highschool children of migrant workers. Then the further statistical analysis isto be done to these dimensions. The study also collected branches andtotal score of the midterm of the semester on the school children ofmigrant workers as a criteria of academic achievement. On this basis,the family parenting style is regarded as a predictable variate, and theacademic achievement as the outcome variate to research therelationship of the two ones, trying to find the most important factor of family parenting style to the academic achievement of children ofmigrant workers.The findings are as follows:First of all, migrant workers parents are both different in thedimensions of emotional warmth and understanding of the parentingstyle; To the children of different gender, in the dimension of severepunishment and refusal and denial, there are also significantdifferences, boys are tend to be paid more severe, and showed morerefusal and denial; Migrant workers parents with different cultural levelsalso showed different tendency of each dimension of family parentingstyle to their children, the higher cultural level the parents have, themore warmth and understanding is showed; Parents earning less moneyare more likely to show emotional warmth and understanding as well asgiving excessive interference and protection to their children; Thelonger time the migrant workers parents work the less emotional warmthand understanding is paid to the children, and the chance ofpreference to one child is less.In the second, the emotional warmth and understanding ofparents and all subjects and a total score of children have a significantcorrelation, and is a positive one; Severe punishment of parents has anegative correlation with the subjects of Chinese, English and the totalscore, that is to say, the more severe the punishment is, the lessconducive to improve childrens academic achievement; In thedimensions of family parenting styles, emotional warmth andunderstanding has the largest correlation with academic achievement,followed by severe punishment, the preference, refusal and denial, andexcessive interference.Finally, the study results of the survey found out that theemotional warmth and understanding of migrant workers parents hasthe most influence to their children. On this basis, we should shape theparental role of migrant workers parents intentionally, providing appropriate recommendations. In order to achieve the target, the mostimportant thing is to train the awareness of family education of themigrant workers parents, and then improve parents literacy. Parentsalso should create a good family atmosphere, strengthen theparent-child communication, and give children more emotionalwarmth and understanding. In addition, school and community shouldstrengthen their role to make family education, school education, andsocial education working together.
