The middle school Chinese textbooks play a very important part in9Years Compulsory Education. At present, where the north of Jiangsu isnot comparatively flourishing region of economy and culture, most oflaborers own middle school education background. Therefore, theeducational connotation of the middle school Chinese textbooks is verysignificant to junior middle school students in northern Jiangsu area.Through two improvements of junior Chinese textbooks by JiangsuEducation Press and twenty years’ on the experiments, many praiseshave been given by experts and operators. However, has its utilityefficiency achieved the popularity and maximization? If not, what’s thereason? How to improve? The springboard of this thesis is about the useand actual potency of such textbooks. With reference to someeducation theories, such as life education theory, person developmenttheory, effective teaching theory and teachers professionaldevelopment, the combination of understanding the new curriculumstandard and comprehensive application of questionnaire survey andclassroom observation, the author has done some research on theapplication history, the teachers and students’ adaption and evolutionabout it, actual effects, and so on. According to its present situation,the author analyses and discusses from different factors, such as region,times, teachers, students and textbooks and concludes thatremarkable achievements have been gained during the course ofusing the textbook. Meanwhile, some apparent misunderstanding stillexists. As the product of the new curriculum reform, its advantageshave not been revealed fully and its efficiency will be furtherdeveloped.After discussing the special humanist background andgeographical disadvantages in northern Jiangsu area, the author puts forward a few countermeasures, such as strengthening teacher training,changing teaching idea, optimizing teaching manners and methods,conducting multi-level multi-form discussion, developing school-basedcurriculum and using various assessments in the light of local conditions,so as to promote the utility efficiency theoretically and practically,improve the teaching quality of Chinese in junior high school,enhance northern Jiangsu overall professional standards of Chineseteachers and stimulate students’ interest and potency in northernJiangsu. Besides, the paper’s purpose is to offer necessary teaching andresearch support in overall carrying out nine-year compulsoryeducation.
