In order to explore the science of the secondary Chinese textbooks, This studydiscusses reading exercises of the junior and senior high school Chinese textbookspublished by Jiangsu Education Publishing House as an example to study the order. In thispaper, literature study is mainly used, the Language Curriculum Standards as a frameworkof knowledge, and the law of students’ psychological development as a psychologicalcharacteristics framework. The study found that, Reading exercises of Chinese textbookspublished by Jiangsu Education Publishing House basic coverage the reading requirementsof the Language Curriculum Standards, that also taking into account the basiccharacteristics of psychological development of students. But reading exercises are unevendistribution, lack of systematic, and often beyond the requirements of the students’ physicaland mental development.On the basis of the study, the author proposes the idea of an improved. First shoulddefine the foundation of reading exercises, simplify the content, strengthening the trainingsteps. Secondly, refactor the task of all grades. Unifies ninth grade and the first year in highschool, connects primary and seventh grades. Finally the overall structure of the textbookis envisaged by the author.
