Shanghai Tennis Club Management Present Situation Investigation And Strategy Research

The historical breakthrough made and great success achieved byour countrys women tennis players have set off a "tennis heat"throughout China, making tennis more and more popular. Tennisdevelops vigorously in Shanghai, with the number of tennis courtincreasing with each passing day and tennis clubs mushrooming ineach district. Being the primary organization of tennis, tennis clubs playan important role in the development of tennis, citizens awareness ofphysical education and the improvement of their fitness. However, thedevelopment of some tennis clubs in Shanghai is still in its infancy, withmany problems demanding prompt solution in the process offoundation and development.Resorting to literature consultation, questionnaire, field investigation,specialist interview, mathematical statistics and so on, this thesisattempts to do a research on the administrators, tennis coaches,consumers as well as the states of operation of fifteen representativetennis clubs in Shanghai, and moreover, to find the problems and topropose measures, hoping to offer a theoretical reference to thedevelopment of tennis clubs in Shanghai and finally to promote thedevelopment of tennis.The results of the research are as follows:(1) tennis clubs in Shanghaican be divided into training clubs, associational clubs and interest clubsaccording to the purpose of foundation and activities;(2) there arethree operation and management modes of tennis clubs in Shanghai:management of court-oriented mode, training-oriented mode and onemode combining the two. Almost all the clubs are formed through themembership system;(3) the major problems that tennis clubs inShanghai are faced with are that the use of tennis courts in each period is unbalanced, the price is unreasonable, professional administratorsare deficient, the good and bad levels of the coaches are intermingled,professional staff are in great need, publicity of the clubs is weak, theservice of the clubs is limited and the equipment is imperfect.To deal with these problems, some measures are proposed:(1) offerreasonable prices, making tennis available to citizens;(2) improveadministrators qualities and form club culture;(3) build up the ranks ofthe coaches and build a training platform;(4) strengthen the publicity of tennis clubs and provide afriend-making platform for tennis-lovers;(5) enhance communicationsbetween clubs;(6) improve the equipment and service of clubs;(7)tighten government macro regulation and control and build a fairplatform.
