As the country and society’s understanding of "quality education" for college students is deepening, there is new understanding of college students’ comprehensive quality evaluation. In the context of "popularization of higher education", many application-oriented universities come into being. They are paying more attention to the improvement of students’ practice skills, their innovation ability, performing ability as well the team spirit. However, the present students’ comprehensive quality evaluation systems are nearly the same in all the application-oriented universities, whose features cannot be shown, and there also exist a lot flaws. Therefore, constructing a set of evaluation system which is scientific and distinctive is the key to promoting quality education in application-oriented universities and is also an important path to improve students’ qualities in such universities.This thesis elaborates the background and the meaning of the research project, as well as the research thoughts and research method. It also reviews and summarizes the current comprehensive quality evaluation system for college students home and abroad. It also analyze the features and formation of students’ comprehensive quality in application-oriented universities, and also makes a detailed definition of "college students’ comprehensive quality". Based on these, the thesis analyzes the disadvantages of the present evaluation system of students’ comprehensive quality in application-oriented universities and establishes a evaluation system for students’ comprehensive qualities with distinct features for application-oriented universities, combining the characteristics of universities and the talent cultivation mode, which provides a reference for setting goals for talents cultivation rationally and evaluating students’ comprehensive qualities scientifically.
