Mongolian Higher Education Development

Mongolian higher education is the core of the education system in Mongolia andhad an extremely important impact on Mongolia’s economic development and socialreform. In depth and systematic study of Mongolian higher education developmentprocess and summarizing the experience and morals of the development of Mongolianhigher education system, have an important theoretical and practical significance forimproving Mongolian modern higher education theory, speeding up the highereducation reform and development.This paper consists of preface,(4chapters of) main body and conclusion. In thepreface, the significant importance of studying the subject and research methods wereintroduced briefly; following4chapters which comprise main body of the paperconcisely introduce the development process of the Mongolian higher education system;conclusion chapter summarizes morals and experience of Mongolian higher educationdevelopment, and presented the problems, obstacles it is facing as well as measuresought to be taken to solve them.First of all, paper overviews Mongolian higher education and development historyof higher education, thus introduced the main characteristics of Mongolian highereducation which were formed during its reform; measures taken and internationalassistance during the reform process.Since the1990s, Mongolia entered into transition period from a planned economy to amarket economy. During this period Mongolian higher education system entered into astage of frequent reform and in-depth development; democratization and liberalizationwere the main tendency of the previous reforms. After the reform, the changes withinthe higher education sector of Mongolia were significant. The paper tries to summarizethese changes from several points of view and to provide more reference for furtheracademic research in terms of Mongolian higher education reform.
