China is a country of poetry, has a fine tradition of poetic education. Classic poetry has authority, exemplary, wide connotation, aesthetic transcendence and other features. Classic poetry can enhance personal accomplishment, ethics, cognitive, language learning, literary accomplishment and aesthetic ability. Through a research of the classic poem features, rheological, and educational functions, we found that the functions of classic poetry education is mutative because of the different characteristics of the times and social needs. In modern society, the function of the cultural heritage of classical poetry in education is more important and the role of classical poetry as the constructer of the "poetic life" becomes more visible. Through literature, conversation, case analysis, we found the high school classic poetry teaching has common poetic missing because of college entrance examination and the high school teachers lack of the understanding of the classic poem features and educational value, To solve this problem, I draw on the basis of the results of others’ research and summed up my own teaching experience. High school classic poetry teaching should establish values for the purpose of constructing poetic life and build a poetic classic poetry classroom. I hope my point of view and explore can be the a little help of the theory and practice for the improvement and perfection of high school teaching of the classic poetry.
