The Research Of Secondary School Teachers’ Information Literacy In Jiangxi Province

In order to discuss the middle school teachers’information literacy situation and its influencing elements in Jiangxi province and to put forward some effective countermeasures, the author draw up the " Questionnaire on middle school teachers’ information literacy situation in Jiangxi province" for investigation and study, which is based on the local high school’s actual situation in Jiangxi Province, and has consulted a questionnaire "Research and Investigation for Beijing middle and primary school teachers’information literacy" that is launched by Wu Xiaomeng and experts’ advices. The research conducted questionnaire surveys by convenient sampling method in a total of nine middle schools in four Jiangxi cities, and gathered260valid questionnaires in all. The reliability and validity of the investigation have been tested and the result basically meets the test requirements. The questionnaire consists of eight dimensions:information consciousness, ability of identifying information, proficiency of using information retrieval tools, ability of retrieving information, proficiency of using information processing tools, ability of applying and innovating information, information morality, and training for students’information literacy.The result shows that:Jiangxi middle school teachers’information literacy is in the middle level of the whole, a lot of aspects should be improved; no significant difference can be detected from gender and teaching subject for Jiangxi middle school teachers’information literacy, but there does is in the present teaching grade, age, seniority, professional title, education background and the city where school located. In regard to this result, the author proposed countermeasures and suggestion from macroscopic and microcosmic angle respectively, thus to help to improve the information literacy of the middle school teachers in our province.
