Research On Vocational Value Present Situation And Suggestions Of Higher Vocational School Students

The employment problem of graduates from the higher vocational college hasaroused attention from all sectors of society since the higher vocational education isan important part of China’s higher education. However, affected by the pluralisticculture and values of the society, students from higher vocational college always haveunreasonable high expectations for employment and the value orientations are withobvious utilitarian. These lead to hard choice in employment of higher vocationalstudents. This paper investigated the graduates’ view of the regional and groupscharacteristic in occupation choice through studying students from four highervocational colleges in Qin Huang Dao, He Bei province, and try to provide thescientific basis for employment guidance of the higher vocational colleges.At first, this paper expounds the research background, the higher vocationalstudents’ employment situation, the definition and the research situation. On the basisof that, the paper explains the research object, content and methods, make clear oftheoretical basis and research design. The research studies the graduates’ view ofoccupation choice by the questionnaire and interview of higher vocational collegestudents. The data collection and analysis was conducted by using the EXCEL2010and SPSS17.0statistical software. The results show that, the higher vocationalstudents’ vocational cognition is clear, but there is also fuzzy condition; the careerideal is good, but unrealistic sometimes; the employment psychological motivation ispositive, but also paradoxical sometimes; the value orientation is multiple, but there isirrational situation; the way to realize the employment is reality, but is negativesometimes. The study demonstrates that, the reason of the presence of highervocational college students’ career problems such as unreasonable employmentpsychological motive mainly lies in the students’ insufficient self-understanding. Itcauses the employment expectation is too high or too low. This research bringsforward reasonable suggestion to higher vocational students on how to establish apositive and healthy outlook on career. It is demonstrated from the society, school, family, individual perspectives: the government should regulate the employmentmarket, improve employment service system; the school should give scientificoccupation advice and planning strategy; parent should strengthen the communicationand contact with students; students should set good career motivation, establishreasonable employment expectation.
