Yoga is a physical fitness item combining music, poses and dances,which is aimed at stimulating the body and helping heal the body itselfto improve people’s health. Yoga involves students in all-aroundexercise to the graceful and peaceful music, which can not only buildup their bodies but also help improve their temperament, physical andmental health.The essay below will analyze the research involving40senior onefemale students in Shanghai Xinge High School through the methods ofdocuments and materials, questionnaire surveys, experiments tests andstatistics, combining the test requirements issued by National SportsBureau in2007. The conclusion has been drawn as follows:1. Yoga training can enhance high school students’ functionalefficiency of respiratory system, their body flexibility, and balancedcapacity.2. It can actively stimulate the sports interest, motivation, attitude,self-confidence, personality of female high school students andestablish their consciousness of lifelong sports.3. Experiments have proved that it is feasible and efficient to offera course of yoga in PE lessons for girls in high schools, which is inaccordance with the idea emphasized in the Shanghai second roundcurriculum reform that we fulfill cultivating students and building bodieson the basis of target oriented for students’ development.4. Yoga training can’t distinctly improve students’ physicalcharacteristics, the explosive force of lower extremity and runningability within a short distance.
