According to the Second Phase of the Course Reform in Shanghai,we should always follow the student-oriented principle, cultivate thestudents’ sense of innovation, practice their ability, and bring themlifelong and sustainable capability. How do we achieve this goal?Based on the case study of Middle School Affiliated to ECUPL where Iwork, the research is about how to optimize course and improvemiddle school students’ comprehensive learning ability from threedimensions, namely editing Course Manual, reforming the ClassroomTeaching mode and developing the school specialized Courses, to findout the key to optimizing the curriculum design and improving thestudents’ comprehensive ability. I chose three methods to finish theresearch, including Action Research, Experience Summary and CaseStudy. Optimizing curriculum design in the research mainly refers to theoptimization of the students’ learning experience, that is optimizingstudents’ learning process and learning methods. Improving students’comprehensive learning ability means three kinds of ability, i.e.independent learning ability, cooperative learning ability, the ability ofmoral cognition and practical ability.The thesis includes five parts. The first part is Introduction, whichcontains the back ground and objective of the research, the contentand method of the research, as well as the related literature summary.The second part is mainly about my analysis and statement of how tomake use of the Course Manual properly and efficiently in theclassroom based on the present teaching books and Course Manual.The third part will focus on the reform of the class-teaching mode andexplore how to form a cooperative learning group, promote thecooperative learning and improve the students’ cooperative andcommunicating learning ability. The fourth part is focused on the development of school specialized course. It mainly introduces how todevelop and implement the study course of “illustrating illustrious virtueand advocating law spirit” where we extend the students’ learning tofamily and society and help them gain experience not only from booksand marks, but also from life and society.With the combination of case study, experience summary andaction research, this thesis will make an elementary research on how toimprove middle school students’ comprehensive learning abilities byoptimizing the school curriculum design. Through this exploration, Iexpect that we can soon adapt this new idea to practice and providereference and enlightenment to related researches.
