Work Improvement Research Based On IE In A University’s Financial Hall

To fully realize a University’s function needs the effective support of its finance department, whose service quality and efficiency will be affected by many factors. After more than100years of development, Industrial Engineering (IE) has formed a comprehensive theory and methodology, including basic IE and modern IE technology. IE was used in manufacturing industry originally, but now it has been applied in many industries including service industry. IE becomes an effective method for many industries and orginizations to improve efficiency and reduce costs. However, IE is seldomly applied in universities’work and management.In this article, I used IE method in the finance department of a university. With the help of basic IE method, I detected the situation and existing problems of the finance hall, which is a section of the finance department, and persued the solutions to the problems. After applying process analysis and sampling, I use the "5W1H" question technology, causal analysis diagram and other technical tools, to find what factors affect the service quality and efficiency of the financial hall. Through process optimization and site management methods, with the optimization and concept of continuous improvement of IE implemented all the time, I presented the work improvement program of the financial hall, and expected its effect.In this paper, I applied the basic methods of industrial engineering, and attempted to provide useful advice for college to improve service quality and service efficiency in their financial work. This can richen the field where IE is applied and also can help IE to be applied in other aspects of universities’work. But subject to many limiting factors’ affecting, the improvement program is only to improve the original work flow and work mode, not making too much adjustment. Perhaps, to use the techniques like BPR and other IE methods, combined with IT technology, will bring universities with a qualitative improvement in their financial work. Besides, it’s worth applying IE in other kinds of universities’work.
