The new curriculum reform in fundamental education puts forward the new requirements for mathematics teacher’s professional development. Mathematics essence is the soul of maths as the core of maths teaching, mathematics course must stress the internal understanding on mathematics essence. For this reason, the author gives the point that the self-development based on mathematics essence is the important way to promote the teacher’s professional development. In research methods, this study uses the qualitative research method. Through case study, this study researches the professional development of some typical teachers.The focus is on the career and mentality of teacher’s professional development based on mathematics essence. It reveals that the internal understanding on mathematics essence,could help nicely creating new teaching concepts,better professional perfection,more efficient class teaching.Thus,it bring a good improvement on teacher’s mathematics accomplishment, professional attainment,and teaching practice.From this,the author also puts forward her strategies in the teacher’s professional development based on mathematics essence.This thesis makes a good exploration to the teacher’s professional development,and it also provides an idea and a way to research mathematics teacher’s professional development.
