Nowadays task-based language teaching (TBLT),which is an important languageteaching mode that is based on lots of researches and practice by the languageteaching researchers, has become a heated topic. It is recommended for primary andsecondary school English teaching in English Curriculum Standards for CompulsoryEducation and Junior Middle School and English Curriculum Standards for JuniorMiddle School (experimental). Teachers are asked to make use of this teachingmethod as much as possible to develop the students’ language abilities andcommunication abilities while doing things. In this method task design-----we canalso say----assigning clear tasks to students plays a very important role. There are several reasons why many teachers do not design scientific tasks, whichhave bad effect on teaching and do not benefit the students.I think it is of greatimportance to elaborate on task design to make more teachers know how to designgood tasks for listening, speaking, reading and writing English teaching. At the very beginning of the thesis, I make a short introduction about TBLT andthe relevant theories. After that I study the definitions of task, the features of task, thecomponents of task, the principles for designing task. The emphasis of this paper is onthe application of task design. This thesis is composed of five chapters. In the first chapter I mainly introducethis paper in general. Chapter Two presents a research review of the task-basedlanguage teaching(TBLT) and the relevant theories. In chapter three I apply a sampleof a class design and a questionnaire which can indicate that students get more in theclass if the tasks are designed properly. In the next chapter I further analyse the dataand results from the questionnaire. The last part makes a conclusion.I illustrate themajor findings.I also illustrate the limitations of the research.
