This article is written in the light of the teaching practice and the various phenomena ofmaladjustment that the author found in the Chinese literature and language study of grade onestudents of senior school. Based on the brief analysis of the causes of the incoherence in theChinese literature and language studies between junior and senior school, we try for a breakthrough with a profound contrast and analysis of the content of junior and senior schools’textbooks, which are chose as the most influencing ones in the Chinese literature andlanguage teaching of junior and senior schools, and find out their influence on both levels. Asthe deficient part of the contents, which should be adequate in the coherence between thejunior and senior school, is found, Chinese literature and language teaching would be makecomplete systematically and consistently on textbook level.This article is made through the method of contrast and analysis. We firstly compareand analyze the standard of the new curriculums, which is the governing factors of compilingtextbooks, and investigate into the reasonability of the transition between junior and seniorschools’ study targets. And then we analyze the layout, content design and the influence onteaching of the ‘discussion and practice’,‘expression and communication’ and ‘reading andappreciation’ parts, and finally arrive at a conclusion on the current situation of coherencebetween junior and senior schools’ textbooks, which are as follows:in junior school’stextbooks, very little effort has been made in knowledge arrangement and ability training forthe senior school study, resulting in the lack of relevant necessary abilities for senior gradeone students to fit in the study of a higher level. At the same time, the contents of seniortextbooks continuously elongate in profundity and extent with an unsuitable span of difficulty,making it hard for students to adapt themselves to the study of a new stage, as effectiveinstruction is deficient and part of the content is not designed with clear target.In combination with previous analysis of the current situation of the coherence intextbook design, this article tries to propose a complete strategy for the coherence of juniorand senior schools’ textbooks. We will firstly identify the type of content selection in thetextbooks of Chinese literature and language, and divide them by the roles they play to typesas set article, example, sample, and usage piece so as to make clear the teaching requirementand target. Then we will try to narrow the gap of difficulty between junior and senior schools’textbooks on the basis of current situation of coherence of the textbooks with four concretemethods, which include creating and designing live language situations in class, increasingopen-resulted practice, implementing rating schedule on textbook design and makingcomplete the knowledge system of the textbooks.
