Basketball plays an important role in the development of school sport and been widely loved by the majority of secondary school students. Since the new course standard has been implemented, questions like how high school basketball teaching may be modified to suit the need for reform, how to help students balance their study and personality development, and how to find an appropriate content of courses and method to teach basketball well are primary discussed in this essay. The tendency of overvaluation of knowledge impartation should be altered and concentrate on emotional cultivation of learning actively. Students’sense of worth needs to be guided to a right direction. Students’interest and practice in the learning process should to be focused on. The basic concept and capability of the life-time sports need to be strengthened. Students are encouraged to participate actively and forge the ability of discovering, analyzing and solving problems, as well as the ability to communicate and cooperate. Schools should utilize the functions of students’development, faculties’promoting and teaching reform. Document-data method, questionnaire survey, interviewing method, mathematical statistics and many other scientific methods are used in this essay. Ten high schools in Shenzhen Longgang district including Longcheng Senior High School, Pinggang Middle School, Buji Senior High School, Henggang High School, Longgang Experimental School, Jianwen School, Pinghu School, Buji School, Pingshan School, Dongsheng School were investigated. The author has analyzed and researched the basketball teaching situation in Longgang district and found out some problems that exist in the teaching as well as the solving ways. Hope to provide a reference for the basketball educators.Conclusion:1. The high school basketball teachers are mainly in age of middle and youth stage in Long Gang District, Shenzhen. They have a relatively high enthusiasm for work and a good physical condition but are lack of teaching experience and patience. More than90%of basketball teachers are Bachelor degree or above. They have a higher stock of knowledge and education research ability so that can be beneficial to promote the physical education reform, the age structure and title structure are ideal.2. The majority students love the basketball sport program, during the learning process they prefer to the free practice or the teaching competition between each other but they are not so interested in the basic technology. Basketball teachers targeted instruction based on students’specific circumstances, take full advantage of the game of basketball instruction to meet students’sports needs to be improved.3. Since the new curriculum standard in District Long gang, Shenzhen has popularized most basketball teachers have already obtained a further understanding with the new standard of class, but many subjective and objective restriction leads to the limit in the new standard that cannot be carried out in time.4. The basketball lessons of middle school in District Long gang mainly organize teaching traditionally according to classes, sometimes according to sex or major.5. Although the facilities for physical education in middle school are quite complete, they are not enough and not good for the basketball teaching, unable to meet all the student’s need in the activity-intense period.In terms of the problem existed in basketball teaching of middle school in Long gang District, Shenzhen, several suggestions are proposed as follows:1. Continue to perfect the construction of basketball teachers’team, improve the training of teachers about the new curriculum standard, enhance the actual effect of training and put it into practical use in the process of teaching.2. Take the teaching form of "small classes" and make full use of the teaching resource at school.3. Basketball teachers should put forward the reform of learning ways by all kinds of teaching methods and give the developing value according to different value contents and subjects.4. More efforts should be put on the teaching mode of "Club-style", which is different from the traditional forms of separating class. And many kinds of teaching styles such as3-to-3team, street basketball team, basketball game team and basketball referee team are divided.
