The Study On The Problems And Countermeasures In The Education Of Migration In Minqin County

Minqin County of Gansu province is one of the typical desertification areas inthe western region of China; what’s more it is famous as "home of culture" and for itseducation. In recent years, the local government have been implementing the"educational migration" vigorously so that a large number of students can be admittedto all types of colleges, realizing employment outside the county so as to reduce thepopulation pressure on the fragile environment.This essay indicates that the policy ofeducational migration is a practical and imperative way to ease the increasinglyserious ecological environmental problems in Minqin county. The implementation ofthe policy in Minqin is attributable to the deteriorating ecological environment on theground, also benefited from strong support from the local government, as well as thelocal rural families support and the young students’ subjective wishes. Through theimplementation of the active policy of educational migration, encouraging the ruralfamilies to invest in children’s education, the good social atmosphere of respectingteachers is formed and the brand of education is created, thus, to a certain extent thepopulation pressure has been relieved.But under the condition of the long-term inadequate investment in education ofthe west from the Central Finance and the very little financial resources from the localgovernment, the rural families are still the major investors for the educationalmigrants, in which the high input has led to rural porverty-stricken families andcaused the indirect damage to the ecological environment, resulting in a loss of thelocal talent and the serious problems of rural old-age. From a sociological perspectivethis article makes some targeted recommendations to further improve the policy ofeducational migration on the basis of in-depth investigation and careful analysis of theconditions and problems in educational migration.
