By the end of2011, the number of the higher vocational colleges has accountedfor half of the national higher education, whether the colleges or students enrollmenthave already outnumbered the universities. With more and more effect exerted on thesocial and economic development, the higher vocational colleges urgently need tocreate their own brands, models and features. Therefore, to be a well-known andinfluential higher vocational college at home and abroad, the high-quality talents willbe crucial to strategic resources.However, higher vocational colleges with high-quality faculty necessarilyimprove performance evaluation and incentive system, which is the key point ofstrengthening reform of personnel system, optimizing faculty structure, enhancingeducational quality and managing school. For this reason, how to conduct effectiveand reasonable performance evaluation and incentive management becomes asignificant issue which the personnel administrators must be confronted with.Therefore, it is of great and realistic significance to do some research intoperformance evaluation and incentive system for faculty in higher vocational colleges.The paper emphasizes the following work: first of all, a ā€œCā€ vocationalcollege has been chosen as a sample school; and we start the research with themanagerial conditions in its human resources, and then adopt the methods of thesurvey on the site as well as theory and practice in combination to study the specificcases from the qualitative and quantitative point of view. In the process, someproblems exist, such as the outdated evaluation methods, poor supervision of process,formalized results, defective incentive system, and inconspicuous effect. Secondly, theauthor tries to study the necessity and importance of modern performance evaluationsystem and incentive mechanism in the higher vocational colleges on the aspects ofmicrocosm and strategy in order to find out the factors caused by so many problems.Thirdly, some advice have been put forward, including improving performanceevaluation system, building multi-layer stereoscopic assessment system, innovatingincentive remuneration mechanism and fair distribution system, standardizing titleassessment system of the faculty, emphasizing the spiritual needs, establishing all-round faculty incentive system, strengthening faculty training, enhancingmanagerial system of the scientific research, and attaching importance to incentivesystem of the scientific research, etc.The conclusion of the paper probes into the solution to the realistic problems ofperformance evaluation and incentive system for faculty in the higher vocationalcolleges, meantime, the study will provide the instructions for scientificallyreasonably evaluating and encouraging faculty in other higher vocational colleges,and improving school management and competitive abilities.
