With the implementation of the new curriculum in Jiangsu Province in2005, theteaching on connection between junior and senior school has become a hotspot in theresearch of mathematics education. The function concept is a core concept in themathematics course in middle school. At the same time, due to the abstraction andcomplexity the concept of function has also become a difficulty in the mathematicsteaching of middle school. The concept of function goes through the two stages ofjunior and senior school, and the arrangement of mathematics textbooks is made withthe mode of subparagraph and spiral, but what the students understand about theconcept of function is still unsatisfactory. This article take the textbooks of Su KeEdition and the textbooks of Su Jiao Edition in Southern region in Jiangsu Province,asan example, focusing on how to do a good job in connecting function concept betweenjunior and senior school. This article tries to find the point where the two connect, putforward the corresponding solution to this and demonstrate it in a scientific andeffective way.According to the bibliography, we have made comparative analysis from two setsof the textbooks in the middle school, the approaches of the teachers’ teaching andstudents’ learning, students’ age characteristics and psychological development; also weknow the students of different levels in grasping the concept of function from thequestionnaires and interviews of the teachers and students in junior and high schoolstudents from Wujiang city Jiangsu province. And we have found the reasons why thereis no cohesion on high school students’ learning function, we can use induction teachingmethod as the effective strategies in function, hoping to be a correct guidance inteachers teaching.Investigation shows that high school students can not adapt themselves to themathematics whose content is much more profound abstract, because they don’t changetheir learning methods and habits. The teachers are always random and blind in solvingthe problems in the transition from junior high school to senior high school, which iswell worth discussing.In addition, the content of textbook in this period is skin-deepand of less help to the transition.The teacher should make full use of the teachingmaterials, add content appropriately, slow down when teaching difficult points such asthe concept of and function, and give students more time. Focus on guiding the studentslearning habits and methods in teaching process and help them to adapt to this period,and their mathematics will be improved.Finally, through the teaching case, the above teaching strategy can be used inteaching cohesion of function concept. The students will be no longer be afraid offunction class, and it can deepen them understanding of the concept of function, it canalso help them find the effective way in learning mathematics of senior high school.
