"Village to Habitat" is a typical phenomenon appearing in China’s urbanization process; as a vital means to push the process of urbanization, it has been drawing more and more attention from people in politics and academia, and the masses as well. As concluded from the view of theory, the practice of "Village to Habitat" can promote the construction of the new socialist countryside and accelerate the integration of urban and rural areas. However, due to various reasons, there have emerged many social problems during the practical operation. This thesis contains five parts and makes a comprehensive survey of restructuring of "Village to Habitat" in Southern Jiangsu Province where it begins. By rearranging the social and economic background, dynamic factors and specific operations during its development, this thesis aims to find out existing problems and put forward strategies after a careful analysis and discussion.The first part is Introduction, where background, significance, objectives and adopted methods of this thesis are explored. Meanwhile, main concepts presented in this thesis are defined and present studies about "Village to Habitat" are rearranged.The second part focuses on dynamic factors and adjustment of interest structure during the practice of "Village to Habitat" in Southern Jiangsu. This part provides a detailed introduction of background information about the above-mentioned practice; and it makes an analysis from perspectives of the needs of social, economic development and transform, interest-driven acts in this practice, and changes of the modes of farmers’ production and life. Besides, it elaborates on specific measures about how to adjust interests in "Village to Habitat" process in Southern Jiangsu.The third part mainly explains existing problems in "Village to Habitat" process in Southern Jiangsu. Though Southern Jiangsu has luxurious advantages of carrying out the practice of "Village to Habitat", various problems still have emerged. This part generalizes seven obvious ones and discusses them separately, expecting to offer reference to urbanization of China’s less developed regions.The next part is concerned about benefits brought about by the practice of "Village to Habitat" in Southern Jiangsu and what conditions is suitable for this kind of transform. Then it raises some corresponding strategies based on the problems generalized in last part.The final part is Conclusion, which summarizes core ideas in this thesis.
