"Learning to learn" is one of People’s fundamental abilities in modern society.And this ability is guaranteed by learning Potential, thus the exploration of students’learning potential is becoming a growing concern.As a result,in China’s new curriculum reform,the cultivation of students’learning potential has been written on the “Course Standard”,as a basic curriculumconcept. Moreover,the university entrance examination,an important means to selecttalents,also put the capability to learn as primary criteria.The high school stage lays an important ground for students’ lifelongdevelopment and is regarded the best time for the exploration of learning potential.Hence is definitely worth for junior school teachers’ further research to effectivelyexplore students’ learning potential for English during this stage.This thesis systematically discussed the definition of the learning potential ingeneral,learning potential specifically for English and the methodology of English atjunior school.On this basis,I have carried out scientific and rational teaching trials quantizeanalyzed students’ development in English study and realized the practice ofevaluating learning potential.Based on the analysis of large numbers of statistical data, I concluded that thelearning potential for English is developable and it is of great benefit to fullyimprove students’ English level and ability.
