Sense of coherence is a cognitive and affective assessment method of copingeffective, promoting healthy behaviors and better social adjustment in HealthPsychology. Individuals with high sense of coherence are more likely to adoptappropriate coping strategies to adapt the specific needs of the environment. Middleschool students are in the critical period and sensitive period of their physical andmental development. They face a lot of stress from the physical, psychological, andsocial events, such as learning, family, social relationships, health etc. The level ofstudents’ sense of coherence affect the evaluation and cognition of these pressuresdirectly and thus has a major impact on their well-being and social adjustment. Studieshave shown that physical exercise has a beneficial role in promoting the students’physical health, mental health and social health, while there is a close relationshipbetween sense of coherence and these factors. We can qualitatively think that physicalexercise activities contribute to the establishment of generalized resistance andprotective resources which promote the development and improvement of sense ofcoherence among adolescents by logical reasoning. The subjects were measured by the Exercise-Induced Feeling Inventory (EFI),PARS-3and Sense of Coherence Inventory (SOC-13) through the method ofpsychological test to adolescents. Data analysis was used to examine the relationshipsbetween sports exercises and adolescents’ sense of coherence. The result revealed that(1) Middle school period is a sensitive development period of sense of coherence, individuals at this stage has not yet formed stable sense of coherence.(2) There was apositive correlation between moderate to large amount of exercise and adolescents’sense of coherence,so and positive physical exercise attitude.Adolescents who hold apositive physical exercise attitude and take part in moderate to large amount of physicalexercise are conducive to promote the development of the students’ sense of coherence. (3) Sense of revived spirits and active participation after sports exercise have apositive correlation with adolescents’ sense of coherence, but sense of fatigue has anegative correlation with it. Sense of revived spirits and active participation after sportsexercise could promote the development of adolescents’ sense of coherence. In addition, sense of fatigue could hinder the development of adolescents’ sense of coherence.(4)Adolescents who have a high sense of coherence have a better physical exercise attitude, more sense of revived spirit and active participation after sports exercise than the lowers, while less sense of fatigue.Adolescents should establish a positive physical exercise attitude, and activelyparticipate in moderate to large amount of physical exercise in order to promote thedevelopment of their sense of coherence. At the same time adolescents should takepleasure, sense of revived spirit and active participation as indicators of effectiveexercise and eliminate the fatigue caused by physical exercise timely. Previous studieshave shown that different types of sports have different effects on adolescents’ physicaland mental health. This article has not yet explored what kind of sport has more effectson the development of adolescents’ sense of coherence which can be used as thedirection of the further research.
