The departments of Educational Technology in Normal Universities originallyaimed to cultivate talents for audio-visual education. However, the accelerateddevelopment of educational informatization decreases schools’ demand foraudio-visual talents but increases the need for IT majored talents. Meanwhile, therapid development of informatization in society makes it a trend for EducationalTechnology majored students to be employed in enterprises in the future. The changein social needs requires reformation in Educational Technology curriculum inuniversities correspondently.The thesis makes several researches concerning this issue. First, this thesisprovides an overview of the situation of Educational Technology curriculum set inChinese universities, focusing on the situation in Normal Universities, ForeignLanguage Universities and Comprehensive Universities. By giving an analysis of thecharacteristic courses set in different types of universities, this part of the thesis aimsto find the method of setting Educational Technology courses according to thesituation of universities and the local social environment. Second, the thesis presents adetailed analysis on the social needs for and the actual employment of EducationalTechnology major graduates in Henan Province. By focusing on the study of theemployment of Educational Technology major graduates in schools and enterprises inHenan Province, this part aims to provide some references for the reformation ofEducational Technology curriculum in the universities located in Henan Province.Third, the thesis proposes a plan for the Educational Technology curriculum reform inHenan Normal University, under the guidance of the12th Five-Year Plan of thedevelopment of education in Henan Province and the10-year development plan(2010-2020) of educational informatization in Henan Province, and on the basis of theemployment situation of Educational Technology major graduates in Henan provinceand predicated situation in the future and the resources of Henan Normal University.The plan points out that the Educational Technology curriculum in Henan NormalUniversity should be set with the aim of cultivating five different types of talents, specializing in IT education, general technology education, audio-visual education,instructional media and technology and educational software engineering respectivelyand provides suggestions on how courses should be set for the five aims. The planproposed in the thesis can be a reference for about ten universities with department ofEducational Technology in Henan Province.
