In recent years, because of the development of science and technologyand the changes of industral structure, senior skilled applied talents withcertain level of theoretical knowledge and strong practical ability havebecome well received in the employment market, which accelerates thedevelopment of higher vocational education. At the same time, the state haspromulgated a series of encouraging policy to support private education,making the number and the scale of private-owned higher vocationalcolleges (PHVCs) grow rapidly. As a result, a great number of teachingstaff are required for the growth. But for some reasons, the overall level ofteaching abilities in PHVCs are still very low, double qualified PHVCsteachers with a solid theoretical knowledge and rich industrial experienceare in desperate need. To realize the training goals of higher vocationaleducation and ensure the high quality of education, it is necessary tostrengthen on-job training for teachers in PHVCs in order to improve theirpractical knowledge and teaching abilities. However, majority of thesecolleges have not attached the importance to the on-job training. Therefore,to further the research on on-job training and put forward some feasiblesuggestions will have a great influence on the growth of PHVCs and thesocial economic development. Based on the primary research on the on-job training programmscarried out by three different PHVCs in Dalian city, the thesis will reviewthe present state of the on-job training programms given to the teachers inPHVCs, then will analyse the existing problems and possible causes,finally will make recommendations on how to improve on-job training. Thethesis will consist of four parts:Part one: raise questions. In this part, the author will introduce thebackground of the development of PHVCs in China as the starting point.Then the author will illustrate the necessity and importance for PHVCs tostrengthen on-job traning and summarise the existing problems. Finally, itwill be the literaure review, which mainly examine the domestic andforeign researches on the adoption of on-job traning for teachers in PHVCs.Based on this, the author will find out the breakthrough point and the mainproblems, then the author will determine the purpose of the research andstudy of the theoretical and practical significance.Part two: introduce the research process and methodology.Part three: define the concepts and determine theoretical basis.Part four: analyse the results of primary research. In this part, theauthor will analyse the results of the questionaires and interviews from theprimary research carried out in selected PHVCs in Dalian city and then findout the existing problems and possible causes.Part five: make feasible countermeasures and rational recommendations. In this part, according to the existing problems andpossible causes, the author will bring forward the feasible countermeasuresand make rational recommendations.
