In recent years, as accelerating process of global economic integration, it makes new demand on China’s higher education in the era of knowledge economy. The development and strengthening of non-governmental institutions for the promotion of higher education in our country has become increasingly visible and important in the development of the whole country’s higher education development. As we all know, the key to the development of private-run colleges is "brain training". How to establish an innovative institutional mechanism is decisive. The teachers have an essential effect on the cultivation of students, therefore creating a reasonable structure, high-level and stable faculty is the leading factor in improving the competitiveness of private-run colleges. This requires that private-run colleges set up a scientific and rational performance appraisal system to strengthen the construction of staff. This article tries to analyze the case in Nanchang Institute of Science and Technology, hopes to establish a scientific, rational and effective teacher performance assessment system, improves the overall performance of school and enhances the competitiveness of Nanchang Institute of Science and Technology.Based on performance evaluation theories, research methods and current condition in Nanchang Institute of Science and Technology, this article conducts an in-depth analysis of the problems, analyzes the goals of performance appraisal and the methods of evaluation, then determines the comprehensive quality of teachers performance evaluation system in the work, teaching, scientific research and other work on4first and12secondary indicators. Through the issuance of questionnaire, we collect the views of experts and teachers, and make the distribution of performance targets clear, eventually devise a suitable method for teacher performance assessment system of Nanchang Institute of Science and Technology itself. The teacher’s performance appraisal system has greater significance for the investor and the governing body.
