In fact, since the birth of education, educators have been seeking the efficiencyof teaching. Our ancient educator Confucius had been practicing the theory of anyonecan be educated whoever it is. Xue Ji, as the classic literature of ancient Chinesepedagogy, is also a reflection of the pursuit of teaching efficiency. Important as it is, itdoes not have a long history as a distinct educational theory and teaching practice.The notion of effective teaching has its origin in the campaign of scientization ofteaching of the Western countries in the first half of the20th Century. In particular,after the United States pragmatism philosophy and behavior doctrine psychologyeffect of teaching effectiveness approved movement, it can be seen frequently inEnglish education literatures, drawing the attention of educators all over the world.With the increase of interest, it developed from the rational reflection to theconstruction of theories, then to the practice model and the exploration of strategies.Teaching efficiency is also a product of the argument over whether teaching is ascience or an art. Teaching is a kind of art is a dominant education notion in thewestern education theory before the20th Century. It advocates the personalized,rather than publicized, and it is an act according to their conscience and "established"behavior. It insists that there are a variety of elements affecting the teaching processand the results are so various that can be justified by no scientific methods. However,as the development of science especially the development of behavior science, peoplebegan to put forward the notion that teaching is also a science. This is the backgroundunder which teaching efficiency was put forward. With its core being the efficiency ofteaching, it focuses on what kind of teaching is effective and efficient.Under the background of new curriculum, effective teaching are given specialattention, and became a hot subject. With the deepening and further implementation ofnew curriculum reform, effective teaching is becoming an effective tool of improvingteaching quality, and achieving teaching goals. The research on classroom behavior is a pragmatic study based on the theory of teaching efficiency as well as classroomobservation carried under the background of new curriculum. In order to implementthe new curriculum in a more effective way and achieve the effective teaching in areal sense, our school has been carrying out the practical classroom observation basedon effective teaching in recent years. Classroom observation has been applied indifferent classrooms in different subjects, has been explored thoroughly and reflecteddeeply. The objective of my research lies in the application of effective teaching withthe classroom observation as a means and summarize a criteria of efficient teachingand a framework for evaluate the teachers as well as seeking a new way to implementthe new curriculum in a more effective way.
