Improving the quality of compulsory education and narrowing the gap between the urbanand rural compulsory education to achieve the balance of compulsory education has becomethe urgent demands in China. However, teaching of primary and secondary schools in ruraldistricts has been marginalized for a long time, rural compulsory education quality is not high,the gap between urban and rural quality of teaching has become a deep-seated urban-rural gapin education, posing a threat to the education fair and ethical demands. Through the statisticaldata, we can find that in the primary schools in rural areas, a considerable proportion ofsmall-scale classes exists according to the current class size situation in China. To learn theresearch achievements from domestic and international small-scale classes teaching and takeadvantage of educational resources that small-scale classes provide to improve the quality ofsmall-scale classes teaching in rural schools will bring a huge effectiveness and fresh vitalityfor the development of rural primary and secondary schools.This paper summarizes the foreign class size research results and research methods onthe basis of literature research, concludes the availability of education advantages provided bysmall-scale classes to construct the analysis framework. According to the analysisframework,this study design the questionnaires and interview outlines including severallevels with different measurement items, then select eight schools in D county of JilinProvince as research objects.This study reveals the current real natural state of the rural small-scale classes teaching,finding that small classes teaching advantages have not been mobilized, some problems existin small-scale classes teaching. Then we analyzed the problems from two aspects.Finally,based on the state that small classes teaching should be, this study put forward the suggestionsof reconstructing instruction in small classes.
