Parent-child Relationship And Migrant Children’s Suicidal Intentions

The deliberate self-harm and suicide committed by migrant children is a personal tragedy and family misfortune, as well as a shocking social problem. So exploring into the causes of the migrant children’s self-harm and suicide becomes very necessary. The causes are absolutely not only one. Among various causes, parent-child relationship is doubtless a most sensitive variable for the young students’ self-harm and suicide. Family, as a basic primary relationship and the most microcosmic social system, has a ubiquitous effect on the migrant children, and this study is analyzing and probing into what aspects affect the self-harm and suicide committed by the migrant children. In view of the standard and unity of the investigation material, this study excludes completed suicide, only place emphasis on the influence affected by parent-child communication on the suicidal intentions and non-lethal suicidal behavior of the migrant children. This study is based on the responses of560Chinese secondary students in Shanghai. Firstly, through the descriptive analysis finding, the immigrant children’s suicidal rate is higher; mental health is better; rational problem solving ability is poor. The mental health status of the male is better than female. Secondly, Using Pearson correlation analytic method, parent-child communication and family functions is to predict immigrant children’s suicidal ideation significant variable. At last, through the regression analysis found that father-son communication and parental control respectively as parent-child communication and family function of one dimension to the suicide has a lot of predicting function. In the social population factors flow children attend grade and parents working way all the immigrant children’s suicidal ideation have significant prediction. On the basis of the conclusions, aiming at the problems found in this study,from the view of social work the writer puts forward some preventive actions and measures on how to prevent migrant children suicidal intentions.
