Among the field of Chinese language teaching reform, teaching of writing compositions has been a core and great challenge during New Curriculum Reform. Though this topic has been under discussion, however, with influence by traditional teaching notions and stereotyped way of thinking, there is still a long way for us to go to find appropriate way of teaching junior high school composition writing.This thesis is based on two surveys, including writing of junior high school students and the understanding of junior high school Chinese teachers about writing as well as teaching activities nowadays. As I understand that current teaching of composition writing for junior high school students meet lots of challenges, I analyze the reasons and propose some teaching strategies for reference.The thesis is composed of three parts:In the Introduction and Literature Review section, the thesis describes background of writing this thesis, research status and significance of writing, clarifies the main issues that the study should resolve.The main body of the thesis is composed of three sections. First of all, it analyzes the feedbacks from questionnaire survey for junior high school students and Chinese language teachers, and comes out some findings:challenges of current teaching of junior high school composition writing lie in that the curriculum setting is out of control, objective and subjective are not in line; Out dated teaching notions, weak leading consciousness; Teaching arrangement is getting less organized and less systematic; Stereotyped way of teaching of writing and one-sided assessment criteria; Teachers have limited capabilities, and it is difficult for students to develop good habits; Faded enthusiasm for writing, which is really a big concern for teaching of writing. After that, it explains the reasons of the difficulties of teaching junior high school students from aspect of both students and teachers,"learn" and "teach". Finally, according to the unique psychology of junior high school students and constructivist theories of learning and under guidance of teaching notion of composition writing in the new Curriculum Standard of Junior High School Chinese Language Teaching, the thesis provides teaching suggestions from update of teaching notions and way of operations, requiring junior high school Chinese teachers to reposition the role of teaching composition writing, teaching objectives, teaching notions, and suggest should set up level-by-level composition writing training for junior high school period, open up the enclosed teaching mode of writing, improve teachers’capability and stimulate students’interest of writing.At last comes the conclusion of this thesis.The thesis seeks to describe by giving examples some successful experience as reference for those who are doing research and study.
