Driven by new technologies and new inventions in the world, new knowledge,theories and technologies advance extremely rapidly. So the post-graduate education, partof the higher education sector, shoulder the mission of occupying a favorable position inthe fierce international competition in this new era of globalization. These years, theMinistry of Education issued a series of policies and measures in order to activelypromote the professional development of post-graduate education degree in accordancewith the modification of international talent training mode and the requirement ofeconomic construction development. The training of Master of Engineering, a major partof professional degree graduate education, should base on cultivating advanced talentswith innovation ability, theoretical knowledge, practical operating techniques andadvanced management capabilities. So it should be given more attention.The thesis set up an interdisciplinary perspective. A comparative study wasconducted concerning Master of Engineering between our country and American whichhas a relatively long history and a mature system, from several aspects such asdevelopment history, training objectives, training model, the curriculum, the paper. Thepaper analyzed systematically the current situation of Master of Engineering education inChina and in the United States. Then an in-depth analysis of the similarities anddifferences between the two countries in training education was conducted. Referring tosome useful experience of U.S. Master of Engineering training, the followingconclusions were drawn through the analysis of literature. With regards to the enrollment,it is necessary to reinforce the publicity efforts, expand the recruits throughmulti-channel and integrate teaching resources by giving full play to their own advantages so as to achieve the breakthrough and innovation in the entrance examinationcontent. With respect to the curriculum, we need to focus on the textbook selection andcurriculum arrangement and strive to blend teaching practice into classroom teaching. Asregards the thesis, different requirements should be raised for students, teachers, businessand schools. It is hoped that these comments and suggestions can be helpful to enhanceMaster of Engineering training in China in order to promote its better construction,reform and development.
