| Since September2004, some high schools in certain provinces of China haveparticipated in pilot program of new curriculum, which is a starting point of entranceexamination reform in China. The most prominent part in the reform is that those provinceshave taken comprehensive ability evaluation into the whole entrance examination evaluationsystem. However, there’re still many disadvantages in comprehensive ability evaluation, thishas triggered some social controversy and has become the focus of attention. Therefore, basedon foreign experience, this thesis analyzes the action of taking comprehensive abilityevaluation into the whole entrance examination evaluation system, by indicating its problemsand disadvantages and combining requirements as well as attitudes of high school students inChina, aiming to propose proper advice for a more scientific evaluation system. Research onthe comprehensive ability evaluation is not much in its number and not thorough in itscontents. Considering the present status, it is necessary to conduct research on taking thecomprehensive ability evaluation into the whole entrance examination evaluation system, asto further develop and improve relative theories. This thesis adopts documentary method,questionnaire method and interview method in its research.Based on current documentary and research, we can find that in foreign countries, manyhigh schools value students’ scores as much as their comprehensive quality includingcharacter, hobby and various abilities. This can be showed specifically in the following parts:taking students’ comprehensive quality as admission criteria, placing comprehensive qualityas part of entrance examination, creating an admission system combing college entranceexamination scores, and colleges and universities have high autonomy to make their ownadmission criteria on comprehensive quality evaluation. Through surveys conducted onrequirements and attitude toward the action of taking comprehensive quality takingcomprehensive ability evaluation into the whole entrance examination evaluation system,students mainly approve for this. On evaluation subjects, students mainly vote formulti-organizational system with high schools in leading position and colleges anduniversities as well as administrative departments participating. As for comprehensive qualityevaluation conducted in high schools, students would approve for and attach importance on multi-parts units which include teachers, parents and students themselves. At the same time,students also proposed their own requirements such as the comprehensive quality evaluationcriteria should be enacted by national administrative departments; the contents should containsix parts proposed by the Ministry of Education and based on moral quality as well aslearning ability; the results should be delivered in a way combined comments and supportingmaterials and counted as entrance examination scores by a certain percentage or as an factorin special admission and independent admission.Combining advanced foreign experience and requirements of high school students, thethesis proposes that it is essential to create an appropriate circumstance before taking thecomprehensive quality evaluation. Further construction of system, improvements of detailedassessment, criteria and operability need to be done in this process. Experience of goodexamples in foreign countries should also be learned while adjusting to national conditions ofChina. It is also essential to build a well-functioned system for taking in the comprehensivequality evaluation. Build multi evaluation subjects system which could handle well therelationship between those subjects, scientifically set up a criteria for taking in as to determinethe contents fairly, adopt multiplied way to deliver results and make good and proper use ofresults are important things to be done. |
