Since the autumn of2009, the ordinary high schools have fully carried out the newcurriculum experiment in Hebei province. With the development of the new curriculumreform, Chinese modern poetry appreciation teaching has exposed a lot of problems, andteaching situation is not optimistic. In order to deeply understand the relevant teachingsituation and reasons in ordinary high schools in Tangshan City. The author made aquestionnaire survey among senior two students and teachers in four schools includingKailuan No.1senior high school、Luannan No.2senior high school、Luanxian No.1seniorhigh school、Hugezhuang senior high school. Through the analysis and thinking of therecycling effective questionnaire, the author found that, the modern poetry faces doubledstresses from both teaching and learning due to many causes, such as the deficiency ofhumanistic spirit, the college entrance examination under the exam-oriented education, theimproper teaching materials, the lack of teachers’ literacy and so on.To solve these problems, this paper tries to base education psychology, aesthetics andChinese pedagogy and related theory and combines it with the psychological characteristic ofhigh school students through their own teaching practices and a thorough theoretical study todesign more reasonable teaching strategy and seek suitable teaching methods which fit inwith the target and content of modern poetry courses. It is a also beneficial attempt to highschool Chinese elective course teachingThe full text is divided into three chapters, the main contents are as follows:The first chapter is introduction. Divided into two parts, the first part elaborates thedevelopment history of modern poetry, claiming the relationship between the classicalChinese poetry and foreign poetry and the personality characteristics of Chinese modernpoetry. The second part mainly analyses the significance and changes of Chinese modernpoetry elective course setting according to the content of Chinese modern poetry. It lays thefoundation of the deep interpretation of curriculum, curriculum requirements of theinterpretation and its ideology of Chinese education.The second chapter is the present situation of modern poetry elective course teaching inTangshan City. According to a round of teaching practice and the results of questionnaires, it analyses teaching materials, bright situation and tries to find the reasons.The third chapter refers to practice reflection and countermeasure research. Analyse thelesson from modern poetry courses and adapt to the elective course teaching method; look forways of teaching from the modern poetry and classical Chinese poetry, the commonness andindividuality of foreign poetry and the adolescent psychological features.The fourth chapter is conclusion.
