The trend of economic globalization makes all the countries pay more and moreattention to the reform of elementary education, and our country has also started thenew reform of the basic education. With the new round of basic education curriculumreform, the new English curriculum has become the hot topic of the current educationteaching research, also is an important step to advance and develop basic education inChina. It has been seven years since our country started the new round of thecurriculum reform of the basic education in the fall of2005. Advancing with the times,the new English curriculum is in the spirit of the times, and close to the real needs ofthe students. It not only improves their comprehensive language ability, effectivelypromotes the comprehensive development of students, but also provides moreopportunities for the teachers’ professional growth and development.At present our country rural junior middle schools has been widespreadimplementation of new English curriculum reform, but due to the traditionaleducation idea, the old curriculum idea, the situation of the rural economy and theinfluence of many other factors, there are many problems in the implementation ofnew English curriculum. Because of the larger proportion of the rural population, it isimportant only to analyze the problems that exist in the implementation of newEnglish course, to find out the countermeasures to solve the problems, and to developthe implementation of new rural English curriculum smoothly.In order to understand the problems of the rural English curriculumimplementation, this article took Daming County, Cixian County, Shexian Countythree counties of Handan city in Hebei Province,6rural junior middle schools as theinvestigation objects. through a questionnaire survey, supplemented by classroomobservation, The writer analyzed the problems and the reasons in the implementationof new English curriculum in rural junior middle schools in Handan City, and thenseeked solutions to the problems. This aimed to provide reference to help the juniormiddle schools develop new English curriculum implementation smoothly in currentHandan city. The thesis consists of six parts:The first part is an introduction. It consists of introduction to the problem, thesignificance of the relevant research, research ideas and methods.The second part is theoretical research. Based on the analysis and synthesis ofthe others’ research, the writer limited some core concepts such as Curriculum, newcurriculum, the countryside junior middle school, Curriculum Implementation,investigation. The writer also elaborated the theories of the influential factors for theclassification of curriculum implementation, and emphasized the basic idea of NewCurriculum Standards for Junior Middle School English.The third part is investigation of new English curriculum implementation atpresent in rural junior middle school in Handan City. In this part, taken six rural juniormiddle schools in three counties in Handan City of Hebei Province as the researchobject, by ways of questionnaire survey and classroom observation, the authorinvestigated all of English teachers from the following aspects: the new Englishcurriculum awareness; English teachers’ teaching behavior transformation; curriculumgoals; classroom teaching conditions; teaching evaluation; new curriculum training;the encountered difficulties in the implementation of new English curriculum.Investigations on students mainly focused on following aspects: understanding of theEnglish language; understanding and adaptability for teaching materials; learningeffect; learning tool; evaluation of teachers while classroom teaching; learningenvironment.The fourth part is mainly about existing problems. Resulted from a surveyanalysis of the third part, it still existed many problems.1. A superficial knowledge ofthe new English curriculum.2.Problems of English teachers’ teaching beliefs.3. Thenew curriculum goal is not comprehensive.4. Problems of rural English educationresources.5. Limitations of evaluation system.6. The training of English teachers isnot in place.7. English teaching between primary school and middle school isseriously out of line.The fifth part is the effective measures and suggestions. According to theproblems discovered in the investigation, from the impact of curriculum implementation key factors (teachers), development of curriculum resources, thesurrounding environment and evaluation system, the writer constructedcountermeasures: Firstly, change idea further, establish the correct role of teachers.Secondly, solutions to curriculum resources development and utilization problems.Thirdly, suggestions on teachers’ training. Fourthly, construction of the commonevaluation system to promote the development of teachers and students. Finally, thecountermeasures of English teaching cohesion between primary school and middleschool.The sixth part is about conclusion. It summarized the results of the study andpointed out the direction of future research.
