Undeniably, until1996, when our country developed a unified high school musicappreciation course syllabus and teaching materials, senior high schools in China werehaving a problem of being without music course. However,the weak state of highschool music education course as an important part of the basic education has not beenfundamentally changed. From the orientation of the course, teaching contents and formsto its open rate, there are still many existing problems. Apart from that, high schoolmusic education can’t be naturally connected with primary and secondary school musiceducation, which otherwise would complete the basic music education curriculumsystem construction. In2001, China held a national work conference on basic education,put forward tasks such as the construction of the new basic education curriculum system,and promulgated the Outline of Basic Education Curriculum Reform (Trial) and a seriesof policy documents. In2001, the basic education curriculum reform gave birth to theOrdinary High School Music Curriculum Standards (Eexperimental), which was amilestone in the history of basic music education in China, and also indicated thebeginning of high school education reform in the new century.This thesis contains four parts:The first part: introduction. Includes the meaning and motive of the research paper,research contents and explanation of terms.The second and third parts analyze and compare Ordinary High School MusicCurriculum Standards (Experimental) and the nature of the original high school musicappreciation course outline, some basic ideas, curriculum goal, curriculum contentstandards and other aspects of the differences, what professional skills should beachieved under the new curriculum standards for teachers in teaching music theory andmusic. This paper adopts the expert interview on teachers and students, concerningabout225high school students and88teachers. About95%of high school musicteachers have realized the importance of education scientific research, and only78%ofthe music teachers believe it necessary to pay attention to students’ psychological andphysiological characteristics. Teachers’ knowledge of physiology and psychology is inrelative shortage. Teachers are strengthening their dancing ability, creative ability andthe appreciation ability of operas involved in new teaching module.The fourth part: the author analyzes the differences between the undergraduateprogram of Liaoning Normal University, Jilin Normal University of MusicAcademy,Northeast Normal University, Minzu University of China College of music inmusic education, in order to find the gap between high colleges and universitiescurriculum and the new curriculum requirements. The author also hopes that throughour joint efforts, both high school music teachers and music teaching exudes boundlesscharm.
