Humanity is an important part in Chinese language education. Because of the complexity of the humanism and the wrong understanding of the humanism, Chinese language teaching in middle schools has a few problems in educating students’ humanism. Influenced by Confucianism, Chinese language teaching in middle schools mainly focuses on the connection with the society, the beauty and kindness of human beings, which admires temporal life and the sublime, but it neglects the reality of human nature, the meaning of life and the ultimate value. In this essay, the author tries to use the attraction and impact of different culture on the students to find the differences between western modern fiction and Chinese traditional culture, the connection between the need of the middle school students, the thoughts about the soul and human nature of western modern fiction. The author wishes to combine the teaching about western modern fiction with the construction about humanism of the middle school students.The introduction of the essay firstly explains what humanism is and the important meaning of trying to construct the middle school students’ humanism during Chinese language teaching about "human lost".Based on the introduction, the author describes the background of the essay. It is mainly based on the inner needs of the middle school students, the traditional humanism differences between China and western countries, and the expression similarities and differences in understanding about human beings between20th century Chinese fiction and western modern fiction.In the following parts, the author focuses on analyzing the meaning to construct the middle school students’ humanism and the feasibility of the study based on theories. Western modern fiction does not cover the worry and fear about "evil of human nature", which is sympathetic with the loneliness and destiny of human being, which is less in modern Chinese middle schools students who are influenced by traditional Confucianism. Moreover, modern western writers, behaving like Sisyphus, introspective and responsible, give persuasive cases to construct the middle school students’ personality.At last, the essay focuses on the current western modern fiction about teaching and researching. The author tries to set up a strategy which focuses on the middle school Chinese teaching and is based on the guiding rules to construct the middle school students’ humanism.
