British universities high quality education and training mode attracted attention frommany countries. The diversification of doctoral education and training model is theemergence of reflects social and market for the different requirements of talents. At present,distinct doctoral education and training type is the reflex of British continuously explore newtalents cultivation model. It is not only the pursuit of academic career and academic research,and also the purpose of professional development.The main body of this thesis is composed by four chapters:The first chapter is tracing the development of British doctoral education and training. Inthis period, the state promulgates several Acts and White Paper. It plays a leading role inBritish doctoral education. While the development and changing in economy has directinfluence in doctoral education. Last but not least, judging from the universities themselvesand their transformation, you can see how it impacts in British doctoral education todiversify.The second chapter analyzes the British academic complex doctorate education andtraining model. This is the traditional education and training model. After explored the PhDand the PhD by Published Work, summarize the differences and similarities of such doctorateeducation and training model. At last, using a case study of PhD by Published Work inUniversity of Hertfordshire is to represent some characteristic in academic complex doctorateeducation and training model.The third chapter analyzes the British applied doctorate education and training model.Mainly explore the elements of some recent rising doctoral degree types, like ProfessionalDoctorate, New Route Doctorate, Practice-based Doctorate and Taught Doctorate. Then,using what have already investigated elements to sum up the differences and similaritiesbetween these doctorate education and training model. In the end, also using a case study ofProfessional Doctorate in University of East London is to manifest a glance over the applieddoctorate education and training model.The fourth chapter is discussion and thinking. First part is to discuss the relation anddistinction between academic complex doctorate education and applied doctorate educationin British. Second part is to think the future trends of British doctorate education and trainingmodel. Using the relevance of doctoral students’ number and market, the relation betweendoctoral students’ completion and outcomes, government’s quality standard are to point outthe possibility trends, especially pay attention to prevent the emergence of functional situation.
