Purpose:Through investigation and analysis of the core competencies of nursing undergraduates in a University of traditional Chinese medicine,the present situation and influencing factors of core competencies of nursing undergraduates are investigated.Methods : A total of 240 undergraduate nursing graduates from a University of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)were selected from the 2015,2014 and 2013 sessions of the University of traditional Chinese medicine by using convenient sampling method.The questionnaire included general information,Chinese registered nurses’ core energy strength list and 2 open questions.From critical thinking / research,clinical nursing,leadership,interpersonal,legal / ethical practice,professional development,education / consulting 7 aspects of their core competencies to investigate.Using SPSS 19 statistical software for statistical description,analysis of variance,t test.Results:A University of traditional Chinese medicine 2015,2014,2013 undergraduate nursing students core ability score(2.53 + 0.23),overall in the middle level,according to the score of each dimension,critical thinking and scientific research ability(21.46 + 5.33),clinical nursing ability(20.97 + 5.06),leadership(23.18 + 5.48),interpersonal skills(23.75 + 2.63),legal / ethical practice ability(26.04 + 2.23)professional development(15.57 + 2.31),education consulting(15.61 + 4.11);Conclusion:1.2015,2014,2013,three nursing undergraduate core competencies at the upper level,basically can meet the needs of the current employers.With the growth of working years,core competence is gradually strengthened.2.Core competence scores from high to low ranking legal ethics / practice ability,interpersonal skills,leadership skills,critical thinking and scientific research ability,clinical nursing ability,education counseling ability,professional development ability.3.The main factors influencing the core competence of nurses are age,length of work,practice rotation time,work hospital grade,practice hospital level,hospital and department training time,and whether or not there are career planning lectures.4.Factors affecting the hospital core competence of nursing graduates mainly: work level of hospital,hospital departments have no training time and occupation planning seminar,mainly in critical thinking and scientific research ability,leadership,professional development and educational consulting in 4 dimensions.5.Nursing graduate internship mainly: factors which influence the core competence of internship training hospital grade,cycle time,main performance in leadership skills,critical thinking/scientific research ability,professional development ability and interpersonal ability in 4 dimensions.
