Since the expansion of colleges and universities in1999, the gross enrollment rate of higher education in China increased year by year, it makes the era of mass higher education coming quickly. However, as the population growth, the issues about higher education quality stood out increasingly, and the quality of undergraduate education received more and more scold. Students-oriented Undergraduates Satisfaction Study is an important way to evaluate the higher education quality, and it’s also important basis to enhance the level of education, as well as to promote the reform for college and university. Nanjing University is a comprehensive research university which has higher developing level of education, investigating the satisfaction of undergraduates in Nanjing University to study the status quo of Nanjing University undergraduate education quality has certain reference significance for other domestic research universities.This study collects the sophomore to senior undergraduate learning experience satisfaction data in Nanjing University through Student Experience of Research University (SERU), uses SPSS software to understand the present situation of Nanjing University undergraduate learning experience satisfaction, and analyzes the effects of personal background variables on student satisfaction. At the same time, this study carries on the comparative analysis of China and the United States by targeting at the University of California, Berkeley. The result shows that:(1) Nanjing University undergraduate learning experience satisfaction is at medium level, which is less satisfied and satisfied.(2) Student’s personal background variables (gender, grade, professional, family class, students leader experience) have significant impact on undergraduate learning experience satisfaction. But through the effect size (η2) test, it’s found that, in addition to students leader experience, the impacts of the other four background variables is not big in the real sense.(3)Comparing to University of California, Nanjing University undergraduate learning experience satisfaction is significantly lower. Especially in the satisfaction of the academic experience, there is a large gap between the two schools (η2=0.709).(4) Campus culture, course construction, environment support, extracurricular activities as well as personal academic ability influent undergraduate academic experience satisfaction in varying degrees, the course construction has the most impact among them.(5) During Nanjing University course construction, the overall satisfaction of the general education courses is low, especially in the management of the general education courses.In order to further improve the quality of school education, this study summarizes the students’interview and the recommendations made by students in open-ended questions about Campus culture, environment support and course construction for school’s reference. And this study makes specific suggestions to improve academic experience satisfaction by against the result of the quantitative research:Promote curriculum reform comprehensively on the basis of general education courses; create a good academic atmosphere to encourage undergraduates to participate in research; strengthen the support and sharing of resources for undergraduates.
