With the development of the times, the requirement for person’s practical ability is higherand higher. The disparity between talents of the training and the talents of the social needs isgrowing because the traditional teaching mode emphasize the training of theory knowledge andlight the raising of practical ability. Therefore, it is very necessary to design a new teachingmodel which can fully combine the theory for classroom teaching and social actual demand sothat the students’ practical application ability is raised. Under this situation, a new teaching mode–“Project Learning Based on Design” mode-was putted forward in this study. And the mode wasstructured, implemented and tested.Supported by the knowledge and ability course of “Teaching Design”, the shortcoming forthe current teaching was analyzed in the paper. It was forced on the new model’s, which canchange present situation of teaching, research, using and effect test. How to structure theteaching mode which is suitable for the course of “Teaching Design” according the literaturesurvey to analyze relative theoretical basis? How to design a reasonable implementation processfor the teaching mode? How to select the projects after completing of the mode structure? Howto implement the selected projects? How to record the learning process when implementing?How to evaluate students’ learning effect? How to test the using effect for the model? All thequestions were studied and solved in the paper.Through analysis the overseas and domestic research status for the “Teaching Design”course, the basis for relocating of the “Teaching Design” course was putted forwarded. Based onthe three theories of “Design”,“Project Learning” and “Learning By Design”, a new teachingmodel-“Project Learning Based on Design” was structured and the operational process wasdesigned. Then the corresponding classroom practice projects and finally practice projects wasselecting, the mode was carried out in the course “Teaching Design” and collected relevant datain the process of project implementation to test the teaching effect. Finally, the using suggestionof the teaching mode was putted forward, all the work of the research was summarized and theexisting deficiencies in the research were pointed out.The teaching model of “Project Learning Based on Design” not only can improve thestudents’ ability of mastery of knowledge,solving problem and reflection and participation, butalso can improve the students’ interest in learning and cooperation consciousness. Therefore, it hope that the teaching mode can be expanded in the course which is similar to “TeachingDesign” and provide some references for the reform of traditional teaching mode through themode’s implementation and testing.
