Bentham(Jeremy,1748-1832),was the17thto the18thcentury, the famous British political philosopher, has a veryimportant significance for the shaping of contemporary values.His sense of values is the basis for the formation of politicalphilosophy. Marx once said of Jeremy Bentham, say he is agenius in the bourgeois gloss.Utilitarianism and its values of college students arediscussed in this paper consist of three chapters. The firstchapter is formed from Bentham’s utilitarianism background,source of ideas and utilitarianism ideological connotation threeparts utilitarianism are described. Utilitarian political andeconomic context of the Enclosure Movement in England, theGlorious Revolution and the industrial Revolution, inheritedand developed the philosophical tradition of British empiricism,the Utilitarian idea comes mainly from the ancient GreekHappy ideology, while drawing British empiricism and emotionon thought and18thcentury French transition of materialistphilosophy. This part is a fundamental part of this thesis, tomake theoretical pave the way or the other two parts. This chapter, the main from bittersweet principle, the utilitarianprinciple motive and effect on the four aspects of the theory ofthe principle of the greatest happiness of the greatest numberof principles and most people were analyzed. The secondchapter Bentham’s utilitarian ideas into life values, and thevalues of contemporary college students were analyzed.Chapter Bentham’s utilitarian thinking of values targetedexpounded utilitarian values shaping the scientific point ofview.
