In recent years, China and South Korea communicated increasingly in thepolitical, economic, cultural and other aspects. More and more Korean people learnedChinese and showed a trend of younger age, more and more children begin to learnChinese.Teaching Chinese as a second language to elementary school students is differentfrom teaching Chinese as a second language to the adults. Elementary education hasits unique characteristics. It is based on children’s physiological and psychologicalcharacteristics. It is a big problem that how to start from the particularity of thesecond language teaching, how to aim at the physiological and psychologicalcharacteristics of young Chinese language learners, how to learn Chinese in a happyway, how to stimulate the young learners’ interests, how to arouse the enthusiasm ofyoung learners, and how to help young learners overcome the fear of learning adifficulty second language. This problem has become one of the focuses of thedomestic application in language teaching.Game teaching method is the educational method which emerged and enteredclass on the basis of such principles. A scientific and reasonable game teaching ismore suitable to the physical and psychological features of elementary students, and itis beneficial to the development of children’s ability in memory, thinking, imagination,expression and creativity, and it has a favorable effect to help students to form correctlanguage skills and habits. Finally, it can improve the development of students’ allkinds of language skills. Learners can master effectively using skills and knowledgeon this way. More and more Chinese teachers at home and abroad pay attention to theadvantages of the game teaching method. Scientific and reasonable game conforms tothe elementary student’s physiological and psychological characteristics, can promotechildren’s memory, thinking ability, imagination, acting force and creativity. It is goodfor students to form correct learning methods and good study habits, to promote the all-round development of students’ Chinese language skills.This paper takes the Chinese class in Gurye North Elementary school atJeollanam-do as the research object, aiming at south Korean elementary student’sphysiological and psychological characteristics, exploring positively suitable way forSouth Korea zero level children’ mode of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Integrating game teaching method in Chinese class makes the students learn Chinesein a relaxing and happy environment.The full paper structure is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part, introduced research background,research review, research significance, research ideas and methods.The second chapter is the theory part of game teaching method. This chaptermainly introduces the definition of games, and its classification and characteristics,and the definition of the game teaching method, and its advantages and principles.The third chapter is to survey and analysis the present situation of the Chineseclass in South Korean elementary schools, and analysis the characteristics ofelementary school students, and discusses the necessity and feasibility of gameteaching method in the Chinese class.The forth chapter is the main part of this paper. According to the differentrequirements of different steps in Chinese class, games should be selected properly.This part analysis the typical cases in the Chinese class of South Korean elementaryschool, and find out the problems which should be paid much attention on.The fifth chapter is the conclusion. It emphasizes on the necessity and feasibilityof game teaching method in the Chinese class of the Mother-tongue environment.This part also makes a summary about the shortage of this paper, and finally makesforward about the “CPIK” project.
