| Senior high school year is an important period when individual students will develop their views of lifeand shape their values as they are on the point of stepping into society. However, faced with busy school life,high expectations from parents, and challenge of passing the entrance of university, students in senior highexperience much more pressure than those in other school years. Psychological problems which result fromheavy pressure among senior high students have imposed negative effects on their studies, daily life andhealthy development. Therefore, more research on senior high students’ learning burnout and study pressurehave been conducted and it has aroused great concern from the people working in education field.This study investigates883senior high students from urban or rural areas with the questionnaires of studyburnout, psychological capital and study pressure. The relationships among the three factors is discussed,especially the moderate effect of psychological capital in the relationship of study pressure and learningburnout.The conclusions are as follows:1. With respect to learning burnout, the emotional exhaustion and estrangement scores of boy students aresignificant higher than those of girl students. The estrangement score of rural students is higher than that ofurban students. The score of Senior2students is much higher than that of Senior1students in theestrangement dimension. There is no significant difference between only child and not only child in all thedimension of study burnout.With respect to study pressure, boys get higher score than girls in pressure from parents dimension. But inthe dimension of self-pressure, girls get high score. The study pressure scores of rural students is higher thanthat of urban students. Only child get high score than not only child in all the dimension of pressure fromparents. While in the dimension of self pressure and teacher pressure, not only child get high score than onlychild.With respect to psychological capital, girls get high score than boys in optimistic dimension. Thepsychological capital total score of Urban students is higher than that of rural students, and only child is highthan not only child.2. Senior high students’ study pressure is significantly correlated to learning burnout. Pressure fromparents, teachers, and society respectively is also positively correlated to the total score and all dimensions of learning burnout. Self-pressure and learning burnout total score isn’t related to emotional exhaustion, butpositively related to the feeling of low learning efficiency.3. Psychological capital can moderate the relationship between self pressure and emotional exhaustion, aswell as the relationship between pressure from teachers and low learning efficiency. |
