New curriculum reform advocates autonomy, cooperation and explore ways oflearning and re-establishes the dominant position of students, which pays moreattention to the cultivation of students’ innovative spirit.So the teaching methods, a theoutlook on students and learning styles have made a significant change. Discussionteaching method with its own advantages, well adapts to the requirements of the newcurriculum reform. It has a very important significance for the implementation ofquality education.The paper uses literature research method and survey method to explore the statusof implementation and countermeasures in junior high ideological and moral lesson.The paper consists of three parts:The first part is the general introduction of discussion method in junior highideological and moral lesson. It mainly introduces the connotation of discussionteaching method in the context of new curriculum reform, the basis, the basicrequirements, and the meaning of implementation.The second part investigates the status of the use in junior high ideological andmoral lessons, pointing out the problems and making cause analysis.These problemsare that: topics to be discussed are designed unreasonably,discuss grouping isimproper,the teacher is absence in the course of the discussion and the summary isoften the teachers’ job and so on. Then it analyses the cause from three points: thesubject of education, education evaluation methods and educational environment.The third part focuses on the strategies of discussion method in junior highideological and moral lesson. It elaborates the implementation of the strategy from thechoice of discussion topics, instructional design, students’ psychological characteristicsand cognitive structure, teaching atmosphere and the course of the discussion.
