A Study On The Academies Programme In England

Promoting equity in education, and enhancing the quality of education is the value of the demands of the countries in the world in education since the1990s, the British Government is no exception. The British New Labor government in2000launched The Academies Programme. The aims to improve educational attainment in deprived areas and increase choice and diversity by creating a new type of local school that provide a good standard of education. General elections of the United Kingdom in May2010,after the new government came to power, made the programme as the focus of education reform, vigorously promote the development of The Academies Programme.This paper explores the background of "The Academies Programme",on the basis of being fully familiar with the policy of weak school reform in England; in-depth analysis the main content of the programme on the basis of mastering a large number of first-hand information; combing the programme’s implementation, effectiveness and challenges.
