As the advancement of teacher’s professional development and the new curriculum reform, the country and society give higher demands and expectations for the teacher’s personal teaching ability. At the stage of basic education in middle school, more teachers as well as the new teachers bear the responsibility and pressure for education. At present, the development of middle school’s excellent teacher resources is imbalanced, this situation severely restricts the region’s economy and social long-term development, it also threats the new teacher’s teaching ability development in middle school. Focusing the local middle school new teachers and their teaching ability development become a hope for the researchers and front-line teachers.Firstly, this article elaborates the research background and current situation at home and abroad as well as the main achievements. It gives an overall design and the trait of thought at base of understanding the concept of middle school new teacher’s teaching ability, it’s constitute,and the connotation of development.Based on the principle of cost-benefit and proximity in research, the author analyze middle schools in YiChang districts of their distribution and nature, through step sampling and the standard of the key or not, private run or public run, selecting5middle schools as its respondents. Through the questionnaire survey of the five schools new teachers’ teaching ability development related dimensions of raw data accompanied with interview, we use Excel2003database software combined with the methods such as frequency, percentage to get related conclusions.Based on research data and literature review, the author gives a point that the development of middle school new teacher’s teaching ability is a complicated system, it needs the endeavor for the government, the schools and the new teachers themselves. We should try every aspects to enhance the new teacher’s teaching abilities.
