With the rapid development of information technology and the popularization of the integration of information technology and curriculum, using technical meathods to change classroom teaching has become a research hotspot. The experiment teaching is difficult to play its due role for problems of insufficient physics experiment equipment and limited perionds. SecondLife has a realistic three-dimensional virtual environment, a variety of interaction and vivid interface, which will be a strong support for the design and realization of junior middle mechanics virtual experiment.This research aims at exploring the practicability of constructing junior high mechanical virtual experiment in SecondLife environment. In this paper, the connotation, elements and characteristics of virtual experiment and its enviroment is expounded. And also the author analis the basic operation of the SecondLife platform and its advantage to creat virtual experiment. Then, the design of3D virtual experiment environment and activities is proposed according to the elements of vritual experiment environment and the characteristics of SecondLife. After that, by selecting free fall as the main contents and with the aid of3D modeling tool and Linden Scripting Language and Sloodle tools, the function modules needed for environment created and activities conducted are achieved. At last, inquiry-based experimental activity is carried out in the vritual experiment environment, and the research result is analysed and summarized.
