The Chinese language has rich vocabulary and different forms of fixedphrases. Idioms is one of them. Idioms, as a special group in the Chinesevocabulary, plays an important position in high school language textbook. Atthe same time, idiom is also one of the compulsory content in CollegeEntrance Examination. Therefore, the idiom teaching has an importantposition in the high school language teaching.Chinese Idioms has concised form and rich ideographic. Both in formand content, it is a high degree of cohesion with the essence of nationalculture, a rich treasure trove of vocabulary system. Chinese idioms is animportant resource for the students to learn the language of the motherland,but also inherited national traditions and culture media.This paper argues that the high school should actively strengthen theteaching of idioms in the classroom teaching. Strengthening idiom teachingmust start from the four aspects of the idiom, phonetics, glyphs, semanticsand syntax function. When the content of idiom teaching is cleared, caneffective teaching strategies be further explored. This paper argues that tostrengthen the idiom teaching should be from the following four aspects:First, to strengthen the idiom of accumulation. The accumulation is oneof the important means of learning the language. To master any language, notonly a certain amount of words, phrases, sentences shoule be accumulated, onthis basis, the ability to use can gradually built, but also attach the summaryof easily mistaken reading and mistaken writing.Secondly, making use of the common structure of idioms and modernChinese phrase, improve the efficiency of student learning. Analysis of thestructural features of idioms help us to avoid the use of poor grammar. Fromthe aspect of sense, understanding idioms structure help to grasp significancecorrectly. Again, the birth of the idiom dates back to acient time. According to thislong histortic feature, we can explore the source of the idiom, stimulatestudents’ interest in learning and take the initiative to learn idioms.Finally, the analysis of idioms and its cultural connotations can developstudents’ cultural literacy. Mining idioms’ cultural connotations, not onlyembodies the humanistic characteristics of the language subjects, but alsofacilitate students to deeply comprehend the meaning of idioms, as well asbenefits the national cultural heritage.
