This research report analyses the problems which exist insenior Chinese teaching.Meanwhile it points out the changes in the guiding ideology and selecting contents of the newly -edited textbook. Also it holds that the newly-edited textbook attaches importance to enhancing the students' aesthetic quality and developing their healthy personality. The select texts pay attention to aesthetic value and literature character, and increases the content of ancient style poets and prose. It lays so lid foundation for strengthening quality education and improving the quality of Chinese teaching. This report points out that, facing this favourable turn, teachers should carry out idioms teaching in accordance with students psychological character when studying. Finally, this report analyses the great significance of carrying on teaching by starting with Chinese idioms: First, it can develop students' interest in studying Chinese ancient prose. Second, it can enhance students' aesthetic interest. Third, it can make students master ancient Chinese knowledge and their reading ability. This report sums up the contents and methods of idiom teaching.
