The Moral Value Of Lei Feng Spirit To Contemporary College Students

Over the past half-century, the spirit of Lei Feng, which has influenced we Chinese from onegeneration to the next, is supposed to be the most profound moral paradigm since the foundation ofour country. As a well-known and influential man, Lei Feng is not only the embodiment of thetraditional virtues of the Chinese people, but also becomes a unique role model and a vital carrier tothe realization of moral values. With the development of era, however, diversity and complicationappears on Chinese people’s view of value under the impact of the market economy. Even the lossof balance of the value prevails. Thus the previous "utter devotion to others without any thought ofoneself", under the extensive moral ideas, has become a "Utopia". The spirit of Lei Feng, which hasgradually become a mark, is dismissed by many people.University students are the successors of the socialism career with Chinese characteristics. Theestablishment and practice of their values, is not only related to the growing path of each individual,but also to the future of our country and the building of socialism. As a moral paradigm, the spirit ofLei Feng can both represent certain moral values and enjoy a broad mass base, which, undoubtedlytends to be a resource of moral education which is not to be overlooked. Therefore, reactivating themoral influence of the spirit of Lei Feng and cultivating it into the heart of university students arepromised to be a contemporary and significant issue.For this reason, on the base of the collection and analysis of literature concerning the spirit ofLei Feng, the recovery and enrichment of the Lei Feng’s spirit as a pointcut is taken and the originaland forming process of the spirit of Lei Feng is discussed in the paper. The main contents of thespirit is also analyzed from four aspects——the content of moral education of school moraleducation, moral education, moral education ideal concept of self-cultivation, moral understanding.Then, the form of questionnaire investigation and interview is taken and a survey and interview isconducted on the specific cognitive situation of contemporary university students of the spirit of LeiFeng. The results and analysis of their causes leads to the conclusion of the future of universitymoral education enlightenment. Finally, based on the analysis of understanding of the Lei Fengspirit and the reasons of the deviations of the contemporary university students, the path to therealization of the spirit of Lei Feng moral education value of the contemporary university studentsis stated from four aspects of the firming the ideal, changing the value,focusing on the actual effect,and promoting voluntary activity.
